Well I'm your typical small town girl living in the middle of nowhere. So how did I learn to entertain myself? Writing of course! I've had a love for stories for as long as I can remember, but during middle school was when I tried my hand at actually writing. Hahaha...that worked out well. I wasn't very good starting out, trust me. But I kept my stories to myself and gradually over time my skills improved. Now, my English teacher says that good writing abilites will help me in college. *gasp!* I got a compliment! Lol!
Well other than writing, my main love is music! I love to sing, I'm involved in my school's concert choir. I'm a soprano (a singer who sings the higher notes) and would like to study to become a music teacher when I go to college. I am currently taking up piano and have studied for a little more than a year and I'm no prodigy I guarantee you that! But the lessons are going well
My school is even offering a piano class now, which I'm happily enrolled in!
I also love to act! Every year I'm in my high school's musical and only this past year I landed an actual role other than chorus. We did Seussical the Musical and I played the part of Sour Kangaroo. Yeah...Me. The classical singer who's nice has to become a jazz singer who's a gossip. That was definitely a stretch for being my first big role. But I managed to pull it off miraculously!
So long story short, writing has, is, and always will be a passion of mine. I hope to do a bit of writing on the side when I do finally start my life with an actual career. But for now, I'll stick to writing fanfiction for an idea for an actual original story has yet to come to me. But I know it's lurking in the dark corners of my mind somewhere.
A few people have wondered how on earth I came up with my crazy wacky stories, so I'm here to tell you!
Well a little over a year ago, my friend invited *cough* kidnapped *cough* me to her house because I hadn't seen The Nightmare Before Christmas in forever. I had seen it once when I was younger...well let's just say I was a lot like nine year-old Amelia. I got scared of it mainly because of Oogie Boogie and the whole "Kidnapping Santa" bit. So for many, many years I didn't watch it, thus my dear friend dragged me over to her place to watch it.
I was kind of nervous (I still have childhood fears that will never leave me and I was worried that this might have been a similar case) but as soon as the music began after the Opening, I was entranced. My eyes became glued to the tv and I watched the movie with such fascination, like when Jack first discovered Christmas Town. As the movie played on, the rusty wheels in my head began to turn. 'Do humans know that the Holiday Realm exists other than Christmas?' I thought to myself. 'Has a human ever been to one of the holidays? What if a child wandered into Halloween Town? What if that child was a little girl who was practically scared of her own shadow? What if...What if...'
Needless to say, inspiration had struck me and I couldn't wait to get home and start jotting down ideas. Well while I had been watching TNBC, the entire story for The Nightmare on Hallow's Eve was in my mind. As soon as I got home, I whipped out my computer and began typing out an outline. And WHILE I was typing that out, the inspiration for The Nightmare of Amelia Brave came to me! So during the time I was posting the chapters to NOHE, I had been typing out the outline for TNAB. It was a rahter strange domino effect all together heh heh ^^; Yes...during TNAB, the idea for the sequel, The Nightmare of Her Dreams, came to me. But either way, I've always known that my "Nightmare Series," as I call it, would end up being a trilogy. I just kept that little secret to myself for a while ;)
As always, the lovely artwork on the upper right was drawn by the amazing Elin! ^_^
